Postal officials said the Bronxville post office is closed temporarily because of air conditioning issues, but workers said conditions inside the building have been unbearable for years.
"Every summer we got through this," one postal worker said in a video posted to social media.
"It is beyond hot. Right now, if you were to go up to our break room area, it's 110 degrees, right now, as we speak," said worker Michael Grimaldi.
Customers also voiced concerns about the conditions inside of the building.
"I see mold, black streaks coming out of the ventilation system," said customer Carole Upshur.
"We can't deal with that heat," said customer Aggie Hazell Brazier.
Postal officials sent News 12 a statement saying they're "committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for its employees and customers."
Local leaders said that's not enough.
Rep. George Latimer said he's calling for a full review of the building.
Westchester County Legislator James Nolan said he's working with the congressman's office to get answers for their constituents.
"There's no reason why an employee of the government...should not be able to walk into a cooler facility," Nolan said.
While it's unclear when the location will reopen, postal officials said they are continuing to resolve the problem in the affected area.
