The Saw Mill River Parkway is back open this morning after crews repaired a sinkhole that shut down the southbound lanes in Hastings-On-Hudson.
Transportation officials say the damage was caused by a pipe failure following heavy rain Sunday night near Farragut Avenue.
The closure impacted more than 47,000 daily drivers and caused major delays.
Neighbors described the scene as dangerous, with one witness saying a car went airborne after hitting the damaged section.
Crews worked through the night to stabilize the area and reopen the road.
