A group of people in Spring Valley gathered on East Church Street Saturday to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Day.
Konbit Neg Lakay and Proyecto Faro were among the immigrant organizations that organized the event amid concerns about activity by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Organizers said around 200 people attended the event.
Attendees got a chance to try different cuisines, take part in health checks, and watch cultural performances.
Attendees, like Abdon Jabouin, shared why they wanted to celebrate this community.
"Immigrants are the bane of this country. Without our immigrants, there's no United States of America," Jabouin said.
Organizers said this was the first year that they've held this event.
