At least 100 concerned residents of Yonkers and nearby towns gathered at the intersection of Warburton Avenue and Odell Avenue on Labor Day to protest a wide range of President Donald Trump's administrative policies.
The "Workers over Billionaires" rally pushed back against the administration's policies, from immigration to tax cuts, and just about everything in between.
"The current administration is giving tax cuts to billionaires, to the wealthiest people on the planet and cutting funding for food programs for the hungry, and I think that's just obscene, indecent, un-American," said Yonkers resident Burt Feinberg.
Those who protested were happy to be alongside each other for Labor Day, saying the timing makes perfect sense.
"Labor Day means to me the people of the United States and how important our democracy is, and it's being threatened terribly by this administration," said Yonkers resident Mary Simons.
News 12 contacted the White House for a statement but had not heard back as of Monday night.
The administration, however, has previously pointed to economic data on job growth and low unemployment as proof that its policies are working for American workers.
On social media, the administration marked the Labor Day holiday with posts highlighting what it called "pro worker achievements, with one bullet saying "native-born employment has increased by 2,462,000 since January," and dubbing itself "the most pro-worker administration."
