A Hamptonburgh man accused of firing an illegal handgun indoors while drunk is facing felony charges, according to police.
Deputies say they responded to a residence earlier this month after receiving reports about a medical emergency involving a shooting.
Bryan Janssens, 45, was found in the basement intoxicated and holding a firearm. Investigators determined that he had fired one round into an interior wall.
Four other people were inside the home at the time. Police have not stated if anyone was hurt.
Janssens was taken to Garnett Health Medical and later arrested. The charges against him include reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm.
